I have been on a hiatus due to a family emergency. So, I’ll get right into the challenge. It’s important for me to see this the whole way through.
Day 25: Do You Often Compliment Other People?
Oh, yes! It is way easier for me to compliment other people than it is to receive compliments. In my journey toward body acceptance, I have learned that the process involves the support and love of the people around you. Don’t get me wrong, I have to do the work. I have to be open to self-love and self-care, but I also must be open to love and care from others. It’s not easy for me to receive compliments; I tend to follow up a compliment with a negative about myself. It’s something I am working on.
But, I love to see the good in people. I love to compliment people on their physical beauty as well as their character traits. I see a woman walking with a fabulous dress or pursue, I will compliment her on her outfit. Yet, what makes me notice her in the first place is her presence, her smile, and the way she carries herself when she is owning her outfit. There isn’t enough glitz, glam, jewels, and all the sparkles in the world to cover up an ugly heart.
I tend to compliment friends, family, and people I know, but it’s important to notice beautiful strangers as well. You see their aura, a beautiful essence vibrating off of them. And, in the process of raising self-esteem, it helps when you can recognize both your strength and beauty as well as others.
